iOS 11 was released and is probably available on your iPad or iPhone. We use it since
beta and we could not resist making you a small tour.
The control center :
It will have escaped no one: the screen that you pull from the bottom of
your iPhone is now grouped on one panel instead of 2 or 3. This means that you
will have lots of quick settings at your fingertips. It is here, for example, that you can
access the quick setting of your music (sound, next song ...) but also the
airplane mode, the remote control for the Apple TV or even the flashlight. You
can add or remove icons in Settings and then on the Control Center / Customize
Controls tab.
And do not
forget: a strong support on an icon (from the iPhone 6S) will trigger other
possibilities, such as adjusting the intensity of the flashlight.

Screenshots and screen video :
iOS adds 11 True Complete options for sharing screenshots and screen video. When you take a screenshot (central
button + power button), a small window appears at the bottom left and allows
you to directly edit, cut, annotate and share it. If you do nothing, it will
disappear.
The video screen
capture has never been easier, to show an action to someone, share a tip or
make a video demo of your application: add the Screen Save button in the
control center, press it and go! The video of what is happening on the screen
will register in your gallery.
Application Files :
Long available on
Android, the file manager appears on iOS on both iPhone and iPad. You will find
locally stored files and files stored on iCloud Drive. It is a rather classic
file manager on which you can connect applications like Google Drive and that
will allow you to organize folders and store your files. Useful in professional
use, but give him a chance anyway: you could find him a personal use that does
not allow the apps.
The new App Store :
Take a
tour on the App Store! Everything has changed: now, the Apple store is divided
into 3 categories: the first presents the applications of the day, the second
applications and the third games. Everything has been designed so that the
experience is personalized and editorialized: real humans will write small
articles on applications and games put forward, in the manner of Apple Music.
It's really nicer than before, less austere and it allows to discover apps and
games that could have passed under our noses.
The notifications :
We must
understand the logic of rationalization of iOS 11 compared to iOS 10: Apple
does in the least, consolidates its functions and refines its copy. The
notifications, which you drag from the top of the screen down, are, in fact ...
the lock screen. Everything has been unified on this basis so as not to confuse
new users and it is on this screen that you will be able to follow what is
happening in your iPhone - mails and SMS received, events, reminders,
notifications of applications…
Take the time to
familiarize yourself with the interactions of iOS 11 notifications, they will
save you a few seconds by allowing you actions directly from the locked screen
(reply to an SMS...). These options are discovered by dragging a notification
from right to left.
ARKit and augmented reality :
ARKit is Apple's
time on the competition. While Android relied heavily on complex smartphones,
expensive and reserved for a niche to "see in depth" (the Tango
project), Apple puts it within reach of all by playing with the capacity of
conventional sensors (proximity, light, movement ), the dual sensor models Plus
and quite a lot of software engineering. The result is almost perfect augmented
reality in the realization: the models are well placed on surfaces, recognize
the environment around them and you can interact with them in 3 dimensions.
The scanner in Notes :
If you have left
it a little too long, do not hesitate to return to Notes. The app rivals the
best fast word processors and has a very interesting feature since iOS 11: the
scanner. Like the Microsoft OfficeLens application we recommended so far, Notes
is able to scan files by recognizing the edges of documents on a surface. It's
native and very well done: we love.
Playing with Live pictures :
Live pictures,
did not you like it? Reactivate them! You will discover that they have changed
a lot. First, they are lighter thanks to the new encoding Apple. Then you can
edit them by looping or repeating them. A new mode also allows you to do a
"long break" (it will aggregate the elements of a photo that move on
the same photo, giving the impression of movement). All this is in addition to
classic editions of the "filters" type. In short, give them a new
chance: you can disable them if they still do not convince you.

The feeling macOS :
At the
birth of the iPad Pro, our verdict was clear: impossible to make a machine
work. Today, iOS 11 brings the iPads closer to the Macs with a bunch of small,
well-thought-out adjustments - the most central being the "dock" of
applications that can pick you up at any time by sliding your finger from the
bottom of the screen. the screen. With a physical keyboard, you really feel on
an object able to serve as a computer. The promise of Apple will take time to
be held, but it seems that we are approaching ... well!
Multitasking :
Double-tap
the Home button and you'll have a completely redesigned multitasking screen
mingled with the Control Center. This is where you can find open applications,
but also your dock. From the dock, you can drag an application like Notes to an
application like Safari and make an application in "Picture in
Picture". By using the bar at the top of this window in the window, you
can place it on the left or on the right by giving it a larger or smaller area
on the screen. And, of course, you can copy / paste or drag elements from one
application to another.
The drag and drop :
This is the
feature that was expected to make iOS really close to a working interface. Now
you can drag and drop almost anything and everything: text, images, files ...
to drop them wherever you want. In a note, for example, or in a folder of the
application files. All you need to do is leave your finger on an item and drag
it to another location in the operating system. Of course, do not limit
yourself to the window where you are: as long as you keep your finger pressed,
you can navigate with another hand in any iOS to change application ... or get
another document, another type , in another application and put everything in a
third. It takes a bit of gymnastics, but it's really convenient.
