iOS: after the release of iOS 11 all buggy, Apple is moving towards iOS 12

As Apple strive to fix the many iOS 11 bugs, eyes are turning to the next version of the mobile system, aka iOS 12.

Since the release of iOS 11, not a week without a new bug is revealed. This is the accumulation: black screen, error in the calculator, problem of sound on calls, malfunction of the touch screen in case of use in cold weather ... In total, Apple had to deliver no less six corrective updates to fill all these bugs. A record for a new version of iOS. And despite the latest release (iOS 11.1.2), it seems that problems persist if we grow user forums. As for iOS 11.2, it should be launched in December. According to MacRumors, it could introduce the support of more efficient Qi wireless chargers, 7.5 W (so far, the system was limited to the support of the protocol Qi 5 W). In the United States, iOS 11.2 will also allow the use of payment service via Apple Pay Cash message.

Apple's iOS 11 has been available since September 19th. The update can be done on the compatible iPhone and iPad. In a keynote on September 12th, the CEO of the group Tim Cook presented the features through the new products that will be equipped with the OS, in the forefront of which the iPhone 8 and iPhone 10 (see main novelties of iOS 11). Since then, the same recurring questions have come back, especially concerning the incompatibility of certain applications with the new version. For the future, Apple's R & D will begin to work on the next version of the mobile system, aka iOS 12, which should be proposed as early as 2018.

iOS 12: news and release date:
Apple has a habit of launching a major new version of iOS every year. iOS 12 should therefore be launched in 2018. If Apple follows the same roadmap as previous editions of the mobile system, iOS 12 could be unveiled at the conference of the group for developers (the worldwide developers conference or WWDC), which is held every year in June. In the wake of the event, an iOS 12 beta should be delivered. As for the final version, it should be released at the end of summer 2018, in September.

For the moment, no information has leaked about the possible novelties that could introduce iOS 12. Some independent designers have begun to imagine what could look like the future interface of iOS 12, but this is just speculation . (see the concept proposed by Prince Studio). A fortiori, we do not know either the list of terminals (iPhone and iPad) that will be compatible with this new version.

iOS 11: download and update:
iOS 11 is available as an update on the compatible iPhone and iPad since September 19th. Before you start the update process, make sure the device is backed up, plugged in or charged, and has enough storage space (1.5 GB of free space is available). required). If this is not the case, it is advisable to clean up the videos and applications. The update can be downloaded via iTunes by connecting to a PC, or from the Settings menu> General> Software update via a wireless network. Once the installation is started, the device will restart several times to finalize the update.

What's new in iOS 11:
·         Augmented reality apps. For the developers, an AR Kit is made available to facilitate the development of apps using augmented reality. Augmented reality applications that take advantage of the kit are already available on the App Store (for example, World Brush for making augmented reality drawings, or Housecraft for testing the rendering of furniture in a room, in 3D). A Core ML will have to facilitate developments requiring artificial intelligence and machine learning.

·         A virtual button. iOS 11 introduces a virtual button, which must replace the power button on the iPhone X. It will start the Siri voice assistant but also Apple Pay, depending on the pressure time.

·         Siri becomes smarter, and can use context and content consumption patterns to make better suggestions. The uses of Safari, News, Mail or iMessages (on all terminals of the user) will be used to customize the wizard: Apple calls it "on device learning". The assistant will also be able to translate requests in English into other languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish and Chinese. Siri will be able to support more third-party thanks to the SDK presented with iOS 10 in 2016. The voice of Siri will also be modified, to appear more natural. Siri may also respond to a request in writing.

·         Apple Pay. Apple will offer a new feature in Apple Pay to send money to other users of the service, via iMessages. This possibility is not available immediately. It will be launched on the occasion of an upcoming update of iOS 11, which should be pushed by mid-December. Called Apple Pay Cash, the device will be based on the credit or debit card registered in Apple Pay. Also compatible with the Siri voice assistant, it will initially be reserved in the United States. To be authorized to make payments via Pay Cash, it will be necessary to scan an identity card or driver's license via the camera of the device.

·         App Store. The presentation of the App Store has been reviewed, and looks like that of Apple Music. A new part is dedicated to games. Apple wanted to facilitate the discovery of apps. An app will be highlighted by Cupertino every day on the home screen. Editorial content can also highlight apps. In-app purchases can be made directly from the app store.

·         New photo format. A new High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF) is introduced for photos. His goal: to gain storage space. Pictures taken with little light should also be improved.
·         iMessages should now better synchronize between devices, and free up space by putting some data, such as old photos, in the cloud.

·         Apple Music is enriched with social features. What to have what his friends listen to, or the playlists they share. A user may nevertheless choose to hide what he or she is listening to.

·         Control Center. The Control Center interface has been redesigned and focuses most of the controls in the lower half of the screen. This center takes advantage of the possibilities of 3D Touch. In the Battery tab is now hidden the function "Reduce brightness" and its mode "Night".

·         Face ID. A new function of user recognition by facial recognition is entering iOS. It maps faces from neural networks trained on billions of portraits. It analyzes more than 20,000 points of the user's figure. It will validate a payment on Apple Pay but can also be used on third-party applications. The system works even in the dark.

·          Plans hosts indoor cards, starting with a selection of airports and shopping centers. A mode "do not disturb" can also be used while driving, showing a black screen.

·         Health. The Health app allows you to share health and physical activity data with Apple to improve the application.

·         A new version of iTunes. iTunes 12.7 must support the new edition of the mobile system. Main evolution: iTunes is now limited to music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and audiobooks. The service will no longer give access to the App Store. It will still allow archiving a copy of iOS applications to resynchronize in case of crash or migrate to an iPad or a newer iPhone. iTunes will also still be able to manage file exchange between Mac and iOS.

·         Dynamic emoticons. iOS 11 introduces new animated emoticons, called Animojis. Just look at your smartphone or tablet and make a few grimaces to activate them. Apple's solution is able to analyze about fifty different movements. These expressions are then integrated into the Animojis, which can be sent on an email application. The animated smiley can even be sent along with a voice recording.

iOS 11: new features for the iPad Pro
Several new features of iOS 11 concern the iPad Pro. For this terminal, a new docking station, very similar to that of the Mac OS, made its appearance. It will also be possible to display several applications at the same time, again like on Mac OS, with Spaces. Two apps can stay active, and the user can work with both. A new drag-and-drop mode lets you move text, photos, and files from one app to another. What facilitate multitasking. The Apple Pencil is optimized, to take notes, annotate a PDF document, make a sketch. Finally, a new Files application gives access to its files, whether on iPad or in the cloud (iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive ...). Note that a new iPad Pro 10.5 inches was launched during the WWDC 2017.

iOS 11: compatible iPhone and iPad
iOS 11 is supported by the following iPhone 5S and models, all iPad Air and iPad Pro, 5th Generation iPad, iPad Mini 2 and later models.
