Apple would prepare an augmented reality headset for 2020 turning under a variant of iOS

Augmented reality will be invited a little more at Apple. According to Bloomberg, the manufacturer is preparing an augmented reality headset for 2019 and would like to market it by 2020.

Apple's headset would have the distinction of being independent and not working with a smartphone, where most of the equivalent products on the market use a smartphone as a screen. He would have his own screen and his own chip. The operating system is presented as a variant of iOS having the name rOS for now. The "R" stands for "Reality" here. rOS would join iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.

For a while now, Apple has been creating a team with engineers specializing in augmented reality. This team is managed by Mike Rockwell, a former Dolby, and is made up of several hundred engineers to date. They would work on different products with the code name T288. Their first product was ARKit, a framework that allows for augmented reality. It is in place on the iPhone and iPad under iOS 11.

The project planned for 2020 is far from over, Apple must determine how users control the headset and the launch of applications. The manufacturer has some ideas, such as touch screens, gestures or Siri simply. Apple is also considering creating an App Store dedicated to the product.
