Gorogoa: when video games are above all an art (App Store release)

Gorogoa is a puzzle game (App Store Link - $4.99- iPhone / iPad), but it would be extremely simplistic to equate it with the simple representative of a genre. Fruit of the vision of a single developer, Gorogoa seems to start borrowing some of these mechanisms to Framed (Link App Store - $4.99- iPhone / iPad) with its boxes that can be arranged to continue the narrative, but very quickly we notice that the boxes hide other boxes, like doors open on parallel worlds, all presented in a graphic box of great beauty. The way Gorogoa portrays his enigmas is absolutely unique, and is the most brilliant proof that it is still possible to innovate radically in the video game, without forgetting to pass to delight our aesthetic sense.

To say that Gorogoa is beautiful, here again is a little short: the graphic style of the drawings, all in clear line, sometimes reaches the majesty of the illuminations. Gorogoa is certainly not excessively long, but this pure jewel, both zen and twisted, allows us to experience a rare moment, the moment when video games merge with the purest art, which is not not so common. Already unavoidable.
